I caved (a Friday unFavorite)
Well, I swore that I would never buy my children character shoes. But tonight I did. Avery saw these shoes in a magazine and was in love. When we saw them at WalMart tonight, she had to have them. And, what can I say, I caved. Not only are they *cringe* Strawberry Shortcake, they are *cringe* light up........... can you say ugh? Oh well, I 'm hoping she will settle for wearing them as play shoes, but..........
..... I'm afraid that the fact that she had to put them on before bed tonight with her gown is a bad sign. A quick Friday Favorite for ya..... I was looking for a way to make Tate's room more "thematic" without going overboard and I found this vinyl guitar on ebay and I think this might be just enough. He really likes it.

You made the leap! I'm proud of you for caving. Sometimes we just have to put our preferences aside and let them enjoy something. She is incredibly cute even in those shoes. The light up thing has never really bothered me. I don't love the characters either, but have bought them for play shoes several times. But, I agree that other shoes just look better. It will be okay. Now, she'll fit it at preschool!
I like the guitar! But, I thought maybe Rob painted that.
That is so funny! She is a doll. Tate's room looks awesome. Hey, have you ever heard of Uppercase Living? Its kind of new to this area, but I think you would love it! It is a compant who makes those vinyl icons for walls...there are lots of sayings, pictures, and you can even create your own. I currently have one in 4 rooms of our house- very easy to apply and when you are ready to take them down, they peel right off without messing up the paint. They are perfect for areas where you need a picture or something, but it is a weird shaped space. Maybe I will blog about the ones I have hanging. The only problem is you have to have a vendor ID to log into the webpage. One of my friends sells so if you are interested let me know and I will send you her site. There are some really cute things for little girls!
Hi..
I linked to you through The Nester. I am working my way backward through all the people who posted on her mistreatment party.
Anyway...I was reading through your blog and got to the post about praying for your Tate. I wanted you to know that another Mom out here has a son that can also use prayer....and that I so totally get what you are saying about the things in childhood affecting who they ultimately become (paraphrased)and that you are trying to be the best Mom you can be.
Please know I stopped what I was doing and immediately went to God and prayed for you, Tate and the whole Anderson family. While I don't know the specific need.....our mighty God does. I specifically asked God to relieve you of any guilt you are feeling (don't all us Moms have that horrid guilt???) and to give you patience, discernment, overwhelming love for your children even in the midst of craziness, and a gentle spirit. From one Mom to another and to God's heart.
Light up and character shores are inevitable. Before I had kids, I thought they were the tackiest things on the planet. Now, I watch my kids squeal with delight as the flicker, and I convince myself...they're not THAT bad, are they?
Like the guitar a lot! I feel you on the character clothing. They'll grow out of if soon, maybe.
